Sculpture at Maudslay

Home for Outdoor Sculpture at Maudslay and its Artists

Greetings Maudslay artists!

We had a good meeting Wednesday night at Snow world HQ – thanks to everyone who came, and we forgive the few folks that we hear “spaced” it. Artists!! We made decisions on dates and other things, and started creating teams for the work that needs to get done. (Help needed in lots of areas, so please do sign up – you can email or call me, or ... post a message to me on the website! Here’s a quick update:

Funding: We need about $2800 to put on the show all told. So far, we have received $1050 in grants from local cultural councils, with several towns yet to report, so hopefully we’ll get a bit more. We’re also talking to banks and businesses about sponsorship. More on this as it develops. We other discussed fundraising options like putting on another “Sculptors Ball” but there wasn’t much enthusiasm (lot o work)

Dates: We set the dates. As you know, the show itself will be in September, but we’re keeping the application process in the spring, so we can be less rushed in actual sculpture building. What a concept. You can see the dates posted under Key Info.

Theme: Our theme will focus on the fact that this is our 10th show. So the theme might be “10” or alumni artists might revisit past work...it’s flexible.

Applications: Applications are done (thanks Joyce!) and will be available to download from the website (see below for link). Please go get one. If you know of anyplace we should leave paper applications, let us know. Please also encourage people to link to our website as the place to get applications and info: www.maudslay.ning.com

Teams and who’s signed up so far:

Outreach (to find and get invites to our alumni artists, as well as recruit new ones):
Christina V. has volunteered to help track down our alums. We can use more help here, in getting invites out etc. Susan Kapuscinski Gaylord volunteered to do some caligraphy for invites when we get ready! (Susan, that’s a lot of artists...maybe you can do one beautiful piece we can use electronically!)

Publications: This is posters, catalog, postcards.
Jay and Lynne (Artfluence) have volunteered to do another beautiful poster/cover design. Yay!
Martha Snow and hopefully Egils Zarins are signed up as photographers.
Sam Scholz is signed up to help with catalog production.
Stacey, are you up for “description wrangling”?
We may need a few more helpers here..

Publicity: Team tbd

Reception: Nancy signed up to lead the charge...

Reminder: If you haven’t already, you should go JOIN this website – that way we can put updated there and you’ll automatically get emailed. Among many other advantages! To join, go to:
